Rows of pitayas are growing well in the planting base which has over 100 greenhouses, with an investment of over 4 million yuan. The pitayas are mainly sold to Changsha and Linwu County.  

 

Every May to next January is the harvest season of pitayas in the base. Thanks to the “tourism + pitaya picking” industry, the annual gross income per mu (about 666.67 square meters) can reach 28,000 yuan, and the total annual income is more than 2 million yuan. The industry provides more than 100 jobs for local people, including 8 impoverished ones, and increases the average annual income of local farmers by nearly 4,000 yuan.

 

 

Next, the base plans to expand the planting area, encourage surrounding farmers to plant pitaya, provide technology and sales channels for them free of charge and develop the pitaya processing industry, to help villagers achieve prosperity.
