On December 20, teachers from Chenzhou Vocational Technical College, together with actors from Hunan Kunqu Opera Troupe, gave a unique open class to all the students of Class 211 of Big Data and Accounting for the purpose of inheriting the intangible cultural heritage.
Such classic characters like Du Liniang, Liu Mengmei and Lu Zhishen appeared on the platform of the college classroom.
With a history of more than 600 years, Kunqu Opera, known as the “ancestor of all operas”, has been included in UNESCO's first list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
“As a unique representative of traditional Chinese culture, Kunqu Opera is an important source of ideological and political education for vocational college students. Its spirit of ‘ingenuity’ and ‘craftsmanship’ is highly consistent with the beliefs, professional ethics and innovation ability that vocational college students need,” Zhou Wei, a teacher of the college, who integrated Kunqu Opera with ideological and political education.
“The inspiration for the new skin of the characters in the mobile game King of Glory is from the Kunqu Opera 'Peony Pavilion'. What kind of artistic charm makes Kunqu Opera a representative of our Traditional culture?” At the beginning of the lecture, Zhou Wei introduced interesting examples to lead the students dressed in Hanfu into the art world of Kunqu Opera.
“A minute on the stage takes ten-year practice. Today's class made me realize that Kunqu Opera actors’ ingenuity is in line with craftsmanship spirit. Being an accountant also needs inheritance and study, concentration and persistence,” said a student.
Through such classes, Chenzhou Vocational Technical College creates a new method for the integration of ideological and political construction and intangible heritage inheritance, and improves teaching effects.
