Guidong Revolutionary Memorial Hall wins provincial title

Recently, the Memorial Hall of Revolutionary Activities of the Red Army of Workers and Peasants in Guidong County was awarded the provincial patriotism education base. It’s another provincial honor it has gained after the provincial social science popularization base and provincial youth education base.

The memorial hall was opened in August 1968. It was originally named the “exhibition hall of Mao Zedong’s revolutionary activities in Guidong County” inscribed by Guo Moruo, a modern Chinese writer. After its renovation in 1983, it was renamed and inscribed by general Wang Zhen. 
 
The memorial hall consists of Tang’s House, the former residence of the enlarged meeting of the former committee of the Fourth Red Army, and the exhibition hall. 
 
Tang’s House is one of the important memorial buildings for Mao Zedong to welcome the red armies and carry out revolutionary activities. It’s a key cultural relic under national protection.
 
The exhibition hall covers an area of 800 square meters. With the theme of the “Revolutionary History of Guidong County”, it mainly displays important historical events and famous revolutionary historical figures in Guidong, as well as the rapid development of old revolutionary areas in Guidong and its prospects for a better future. It fully demonstrates the outstanding contributions made by the Guidong people in the era of revolutionary struggles and fruitful results achieved since the reform and opening up.

In recent years, the memorial hall has given full play to the titles of the patriotism education base and the city’s Party education base, continued to optimize the guide services, and launched various Party history learning and education, revolutionary tradition education and patriotism education. 
 
In 2021, the memorial hall organized various Party history activities, cultivated many little revolutionary commentators, and launched moral education in schools. This year, it has received more than 150,000 tourists, more than 40% of whom are teenagers.
