The 7th China Foundry Industrial Cluster Annual Meeting was held in Jiahe county, Hunan province recently. Experts, industrial clusters and enterprise representatives from China’s foundry industry gathered together, discussed the development trend of the industry and shared innovative experience.
Jointly hosted by China Foundry Association and Jiahe County People’s Government, the meeting aims to promote the transformation experience of characteristic clusters, build an exchange platform for the development of industrial clusters, guide the foundry industrial cluster to meet the requirements of relevant national policies, gradually build an industrial cluster ecosystem, and realize green and smart development.
Jiahe foundry began in the Qin and Han dynasties, and is becoming more prosperous after thousands of years of development. In recent years, the county government has devoted major efforts to transforming and upgrading the foundry industry, actively promote the transformation from traditional foundry to precision foundry, thus showing a good momentum in industrial upgrading and booming production and sales.
Huang Zhong, secretary of the CPC Jiahe County, said that at present, there are 116 foundry enterprises, including 103 enterprises above a designated size, as well as 26 high-tech enterprises, more than 50 enterprises with an output value of more than 100 million yuan.
The annual output of castings reaches 2 million tons, accounting for one third of the province’s total. The products are exported to Europe, America, Africa and other places. The county has won many honorary titles, including National Pilot County for Foundry Industrial Cluster, Hunan Foundry Industrial Base and Capital of Foundry in Jiangnan (the regions south of the Yangtze River).
Zhang Libo, president of China Foundry Association, said that China’s foundry industry is in a critical period of transformation, upgrading and high-quality development. Faced with the new requirements of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and the dual influence of Covid-19 pandemic and the US-China trade war, the foundry industry needs to keep pace with the time and follow the path of high-quality development.
In recent years, the county has focused on precision foundry and equipment manufacturing as the first industry, built an advanced precision foundry industrial cluster. Foundry enterprises are moving forward on the road of technological, green and sustainable development.
Huang said that the county will make the use of this opportunity to actively serve and integrate into the new development pattern in which domestic and foreign markets boost each other. It will focus on developing equipment manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, speed up to build a technological innovation system combing industry, university and institute, cultivate leading enterprises and fist products, and build a well-known capital of precision foundry in Jiangnan.
