App helps sell agricultural products

2022-01-18

Liu Junxi, an information officer of the branch of Yi Nong Community in Dayuan Village, Gaotingsi Town, Yongxing County of China’s Central Hunan Province, was uploading purchasing information of local produce to an online sales App for farm products called Hu Xiang Nong Shi (trade of agricultural products of Hunan).

Liu introduced that Yi Nong Community, established by China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, is designed to make use of various online platforms to help farmers around China to sell agricultural products in an easy way.

Taking advantages of the big data platform of produce, Yongxing County established an information center of agricultural products to operate “Hu Xiang Nong Shi”. In 2021, the county allocated a special fund to pave the way for “selling produce to cities”.

In addition, it also built an online sales network called “1+N”, which covers all villages of the county. “1+N” sales network consists of one Yi Nong Community at county level and 224 branches at village level. Lately, the branch of Yi Nong Community in Dayuan Village, run by Liu Junxi, was rated as a provincial excellent one.

“By using online platforms, we are able to have a full understanding of our county’s production, output and sales. And farmers can sell their produce in a very easy way,” said an official from the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Yongxing County.

Moreover, the county made full use of its resources to promote “selling produce to cities”, including various Yi Nong Community branches at village level, e-commerce outlets and supply and marketing outlets around all villages of whole county.

Besides, the Bureau offered training courses to capable villagers who then became information officers of the community branches.

In 2021, more than 30,000 farmers in Yongxing County used the application—Hu Xiang Nong Shi regularly, and the online annual sales of agricultural products reached 308 million yuan, up 41.6% year on year. In December 2021, the county was rated as an “Advanced County with Information-oriented Development in 2021” by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.
