“This is the first step for our team to use science and technology to boost rural tourism and rural revitalization,” said Yang Zhiyuan, head of the service team.

 

Anren is a large agricultural county, with traditional agricultural industries such as traditional Chinese medicine, high-quality rice, edible fungi, fruit, flue-cured tobacco, hogs, tea, rape, oil-tea camellias and so on. 

 

At the end of last year, after the Provincial Agro-technical Service Team arrived in Anren, in light of the actual situation in Anren, it persisted in sending experts and bringing science and technology to the countryside. They integrated theory with practice to publicize the policies on agriculture, rural areas and farmers, spread agricultural science and technology, promote industry clusters’ revitalization, train local talents, implement science popularization to benefit the people, select new high-tech agricultural industries, in an effort to improve production with scientific and technological achievements, enhance the quality of traditional agricultural products, and serve agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

 

At the same time, focusing on rural revitalization, taking Jinzixian Town and Dukou Township as the breakthrough points, and from the aspects of industrial development, land transfer, and the organizational forms of new-type cooperatives, etc., the service team planned the model and content of the economic development of villages and townships, set up a number of new cooperatives led by party members, managed by companies and with market-oriented operation, and adopted targeted steps to promote planting, breeding, leisure agriculture, cultural and tourism industry and other industrial projects.

 

The team invited professors from Hunan Agricultural University to give advice to the companies engaged in traditional industries such as Anren Haofeng Tea, Shengping Rice Industry, etc. Through cooperation between enterprises and universities, plans were made for the development of products with rice bran, tea dregs and rapeseed dregs as raw materials for further processing, the construction of tea processing lines and the application of related technology were promoted. It also assisted enterprises to apply for the deep processing engineering technology center of grain and oil, through which they could develop long-term cooperation with enterprises to accelerate industrial modernization.

 

To provide Xiangzhong Pharmaceutical Company with new technologies such as the development of deep processing and extraction technology of Fructus Aurantii, the development of Fructus Aurantii as functional food, the cultivation and processing of rare traditional Chinese medicine, and the promotion of new varieties, the team also organized professional training personnel to carry out training for farmers in the whole county on the hazards and recycling of aquacultural wastewater, in a bid to make all aquacultural wastewater treated to meet the standard.

 

After that, the team guided the farmers to plant feed plants, which can be fully used to feed cattle and sheep, thus realizing the comprehensive utilization of resources. This provides intellectual support for local industry, science and technology, living environment and rural governance, and contributes to building demonstration sites for rural revitalization.

 

The service team will also gather the talents from the Central South University, Hunan University, Hunan Agricultural University and other universities, and organize 83 experts in various fields to pay attention to the domestication of native wild Chinese herbal medicine, large-scale cultivation of flue-cured tobacco, hog breeding, the cultivation and development of agricultural and sideline products and other characteristic industries in Anren, publicize government policies on agriculture, rural areas and farmers, popularize agricultural science and technology, spearhead sci-tech innovation and entrepreneurship in rural areas, and lead villages out of poverty, 

 

continue to promote the rural revitalization and sci-tech innovation in Anren County, so as to enable the vast number of villagers to obtain greater economic benefits and bring new life into the development of local industries.
