On February 13, seven buses offered free rides for 268 migrant workers from 10 towns and villages in Jiahe County to places like Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen in Guangdong Province to start their work.
Nearly 100,000 people from Jiahe work, run businesses and operate factories in Guangdong. To help people resume their work safely and expand employment channels, Jiahe decided to provide free rides for migrant workers, introduce workers to factories, recruit workers for enterprises, and advertise enterprises among workers.
During the Spring Festival holiday, Jiahe launched various employment services to make sure that migrant workers and enterprises resume their work and production in time.
The travel fares for 268 people amounted to nearly 70,000 yuan, which was paid by the government. This indeed benefited the migrant workers, a director of Jiahe Bus Station said.
An official of Jiahe Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said that they offer free rides for migrant workers every year, which intends to make sure they can come back home and return to work safely so that they can increase their income and have a better life.
Luo Xiaolai who enjoyed the free ride to Dongguan was grateful for the government’s concern and help. Liu Manping told the reporter that he and his three family members can save 1,000 yuan by taking the free bus, which is equivalent to their family’s living expense for half a month.
