According to the rural revitalization strategy and the overall requirements of “Green Rural Revival Program”, Youtang Village, located in Xiangyindu Subdistrict, Yongxing County, gave high priority to industrial prosperity and improved the internal driving force for rural vitalization.
There are 33 groups in Youtang Village, covering an area of 7.4 square kilometers. It also boasts unique advantages in water conservancy with the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway passing through and the Xihe River basin around the village. Benefiting from its great natural environment and cultural resources, Youtang Village has laid a solid foundation for vigorously developing ecological agriculture, ecological tourism and other industries.
In the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, the local party committee and the self-governance committee at village level have fully taped and utilized the rural tourism and cultural resources along the Xihe River to develop characteristic industries with priority given to planning.
Li Jin, party secretary of Youtang Village, told reporters that they made plans for industries and housing, so during the building of provincial beautiful village in 2021, they upgraded the overall rural environment in accordance with high standards by demolition of dilapidated houses and unsanitary open-air toilets, clean-up of courtyards and sewage treatment.
Villagers in Youtang Village were encouraged to set up a farm, planting more than 200 mu (about 13 hectares) of taro, pumpkin and rice. With the support from all grain farmers in the village, 1,800 mu (120 hectares) farmland transferred was used to plant high-quality rice. And 800 mu (about 53 hectares) farmland transferred was used to build a flue-cured tobacco base integrating planting and processing.
The village actively utilized the existing agricultural and tourism resources of Qianjin farm and cooperated with the Bingtang orange planting base of Jinguoguo Agricultural Company, to create an agricultural and tourism project integrating sightseeing and fruit picking, which significantly helped improve its rural tourism. The collective income of the village reached more than 150,000 yuan.
