With the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, more and more young people who see the promising future of rural development have returned to their hometown to start their own businesses. Wu Yanfang from Chenzhou city, born in the 1980s, is one of them.
“After investigation, we found that there were no large dried fish production factories except some small individual workshops in our hometown. We were thinking about how to create a brand of dried fish belonging to our hometown,” said Wu.
Therefore, she founded Chenzhou Suxian District Dongdaozhu Food Co., LTD. in Hongwuxing Village, Wulipai Town, Suxian District, Chenzhou, covering an area of 2,000 square meters, with 13 production workshops and 9 baking rooms for dried fish and preserved meat.
According to Wu, they usually buy the raw pork from nearby slaughterhouse to ensure freshness. After procedures like cleaning and curing, the pork will be smoked over burning wood, rice bran and tea bran, which can retain its original taste.
In addition to preserved meat, there are three biomass pellet baking rooms for baking fish in the company to increase production capacity and efficiency. The factory, which was completed and put into operation in October 2021, can produce up to 5,000 kg of dried fish and 1,000 kg of preserved meat per day.
Wu noted that she should undertake the responsibility to lead the people in her hometown to increase income and boost rural revitalization.
