40 demonstration counties (cities and districts) for centralized protection and utilization of traditional villages were finally selected out after four procedures of provincial recommendation, material check, expert review and publication, with such factors taken into consideration as cultural meaning, ethnic characteristics and local diversities. Among them, 2 are from Hunan Province. This will exert a far-reaching significance on the exploration of the protection, utilization, inheritance and development of traditional villages in China.
