“Working in the village really brings us much convenience. I can earn 5,000 yuan or more a month if I work hard while taking care of children and doing farm work,” a 38-year-old villager of Xinzhou village, Jinzixian town, Anren county, told reporters. 

 

From the beginning of this year, Anren county has vigorously implemented the workshop project for rural revitalization and employment assistance. 72 “rural workshops” have been set up in 13 townships, helping 2,280 people find jobs near their homes. 

 

This project is a long-term mechanism to improve employment assistance, further consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation and promote rural revitalization. To do this work well, 13 million yuan was funded by the local government to encourage Anren-based production and processing enterprises to set up rural workshops in the whole county. 

 

“Creating job opportunities in places close to farmers’ homes is to continue to provide jobs for those who have got rid of poverty and prevent them from falling back into poverty,” said Peng Wei, directory of the local rural revitalization bureau.

 

In 2022, 100 rural workshops will be set up in Anren county to help 5,000 rural labors find jobs. With the promotion of “rural revitalization”, more people with employment difficulties work in rural workshops. 

 

In three production workshops of the county, some professional workers can earn 8,000 yuan a month at most, the minimum per capita wage remains 3,000 yuan. 

 

Li Yuxiu, a villager from Chitan village, Jinzixian town, rents a house in Guanwang village to take care of her two children who are studying in Guanwang Middle School. However, Li had nothing to do after her children go to school. But now she can work flexibly in Jiangli Shoes factory and earn about 3,000 yuan per month making use of her spare time.

 

Now, in rural areas of Anren, like Li Yuxiu, many labors who are hampered by farm work and household chores have become workers close to their homes. Such changes have brought about industrial prosperity, more civilized villagers, and increased income. 

 

“Rural workshops” helped increase farmers’ income and enterprises’ development. Since last year, the favorable business environment in the county has attracted many enterprises to settle in the industrial park, but the subsequent employment problems have also troubled the enterprises. Therefore, the local government took various measures to help enterprises recruit workers. 

 

Duan’s New Energy Technology Company, which has built an industrial park in Anren Industrial Park, invested about 20 million yuan in Anping, Jinzixian and Pingbei towns to build 6 rural workshops and help more than 200 low-income people get employed. 

 

“The county’s ‘rural workshop’ project is beneficial to us, since it can help us solve employment problems and increase the output value, as well as bring us government subsidies,” said the general manager of the company.
