In the 1990s, small iron furnaces were distributed on both sides of the reservoir, causing serious environmental pollution. Since 2017, after environmental improvement, many trees like camphor and metasequoia have been planted. 

 

 

After several years of efforts, trees around the reservoir have grown into a wood. Soil erosion has been brought under control and the water quality of the reservoir has reached the standard level. The safety of drinking water quality and people’s health are fully guaranteed. In 2021, the reservoir won the title of Hunan’s Beautiful River.
