New road ensures children’s safety on their way to school

2022-04-16

“It used to take an hour for children to go down the hill to school, but now it only takes 10 minutes after the new road was built and it is much safer,” said a resident of Nanling Community, Luoxian Sub-district, Beibu District, Chenzhou City, who is grateful for the government’s action.

There are five residential communities on a hill at Nanling Avenue, separated from Lijing Park by a wall. About four to five hundred students attend Luoxian Primary school every year, but there was no direct road to Luoxian Primary School in the area, so children had to walk down the hill to school and took a detour to Nanling Avenue, which was very dangerous because of long distance, sharp curves and steep slopes on the way. Therefore, residents urgently needed a new road connecting Lijing Park and the school.

As a major livelihood project in Beihu District, the road construction together with improvement project of Lijing Park was started on January 25.

Beihu District held coordination meetings several times to solve problems in the construction and compensation for land acquisition. Thanks to the hard work of the construction team, the project was completed on March 15.

It cost about 1.05 million yuan to build an 800-meter long and 1.2-meter wide road with permeable bricks. Such supporting facilities as guardrails, street lights, surveillance cameras and warning signs were installed as well.
