Hunan enterprises play positive role in Belt & Road Initiative

Hunan has maintained a good momentum of development in outbound investment. In the first quarter this year, Hunan had made outbound investment of 650 million US dollars, ranking first in central and western China and seventh nationwide, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

 

Hunan Province has taken the initiative in implementing the national Belt and Road Initiative. In the first quarter, seven Hunan-based enterprises started up business in the countries along the Belt and Road, taking up 39% of the provincial total along the route. Investment of 181 million US dollars were newly contracted, occupying 58% of the provincial total. Hunan enterprises have played a positive role and achieved fruitful outcomes in the cooperation with the Belt and Road countries. So far, there are 277 Hunan-based enterprises operating their business in the countries along the route, involving the investment of 3.2 billion US dollars. 

 
Since the pandemic outbreak, the Hunan Department of Commerce has timely adapted its policies to enhance support to and cultivation of key “going global” projects. In 2022, a number of key projects have been implemented, including the Malaysia project invested by the Chenzhou Kibing Group, and the Brazil Industrial Park invested by the Longping Agriculture Science Co., Ltd.
 
The Hunan Department of Commerce has been attaching great importance to serving and guiding the “going global” enterprises. It gave full play to the enterprising and pioneering characteristics of Hunan enterprises, established a project-based mutual-support mechanism, completed the overseas risk prevention and control system, and provided better professional services for the “going global” enterprises. Many sci-tech and foreign trade enterprises had grasped the new opportunities under the background of routine epidemic prevention and control. They vigorously participated in implementing the RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) agreement, worked out layout in overseas markets, and seized the opportunities in the reconstruction of international industrial chains.
