On the farm of Daxi Vegetable Professional Cooperative in Shigaitang Sub-district, Beihu District, Chenzhou City, many kinds of vegetables are growing vibrantly, like cabbage, chili, cucumber, etc.

The farm both raises vegetable seedlings and grows vegetables, which is approved to use the trademark of “Xiangjiangyuan” vegetable brand and a “vegetable basket” base for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It mainly grows such seasonal fresh vegetables as early spring pepper, eggplant, tomato and broccoli, covering a planting area of 300 mu (20 hectares). The annual output of fresh vegetables reaches 2,000 tons and sales volume exceeds eight million yuan.

The cooperative takes planting driven by seedlings as its leading industry, signs seed supply contracts with members and other farmers, from whom it will purchase their vegetables back. It has more than 100 people who are engaged in planting all year round, and involves more than 300 surrounding farmers in the industry. In order to improve their comprehensive quality and planting skills, it has organized various technical training courses since 2009, including vegetable pest control, scientific cultivation, etc.

At present, the farm has 1,600 square meters of offices and facilities for cold-chain storage, and 12,000 square meters facilities for high-standard seedling raising. It is equipped with fertilizer pool, special roads for machinery, insecticidal lamps, agricultural product testing room, monitoring for some production areas and others. All the agricultural products are pollution free.

“As the ‘vegetable basket’ of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the farm will gradually improve production environment and product quality and be made into a green vegetable industrial park integrating sightseeing and picking, becoming a model in the vegetable industry of Beihu District with a sound system, large-scale production, adequate management, high-quality products and great benefits,” the head of the farm said.
