To support grain production and spring ploughing, Hunan Province has continuously improved the guarantee level of rice insurance and realized the full cost insurance of rice, which has been expanded from 39 pilot major grain-producing counties last year to 62.

The compensation amount per mu (about 667 square meters) has been increased from 800 yuan for households above designated size 500 yuan for small and medium-sized farmers to 1,100 yuan and 900 yuan respectively.

It’s estimated that 402 million yuan of provincial financial subsidies will be issued throughout the year to support 30,313 square kilometers of rice in the province to participate in agricultural insurance, ensure grain production and bumper harvest, stabilize agricultural production.
