Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Hunan Province, in actual use, expanded 129.38% year on year to 1.975 billion USD in the first four months of 2022. Both the total amount and the growth rate topped the provinces in central China, data from the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province on May 20, 2022 shows.
From the perspective of industry distribution, foreign investment in producer services came in at 1.546 billion USD, up 177.5% year on year and accounting for nearly 80% of the provincial total FDI, while those in high-tech industries surged by 487.15% to 1.477 billion USD from a year earlier, accounting for 74.8% of the total.
In terms of FDI source, the investment in Hunan from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the European Union has achieved rapid growth, with a growth rate of 143.2% and 94.1% respectively.
As for FDI distribution in Hunan Province, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan area, the three cities in southern Hunan, the Dongting Lake area, and the western Hunan area accounted for 94.2%, 2.3%, 2.1%, and 1.4% of the total respectively. Among them, Changsha’s actual use of foreign capital reached 1.828 billion USD, accounting for 92.6% of the provincial total.
