Linwu County, surrounded by mountains, has a unique climate that is suitable for fruit growth. That's why the county is famous for its fruits. After entering May, various fruits have become available on the market and the farmers are all trying to make their own fruits more competitive. The yellow peaches in Linwu County are available now, which are usually ripe in late June.
The largest Nanfeng tangerine orchard in Linwu County is located near Shilipu Village, Nanqiang Town, covering an area of about hundreds of hectares. There are full of tangerines in the hills at the end of each year. But as early as the beginning of Summer this year, the golden tangerines can also be seen in the orchard. About 66.7 hectares of yellow peaches in Yafeng Fruit Cultivation Special Cooperatives appeared on the market in late May, attracting numerous visitors.
"My friend told us there was a large yellow peach orchard, so we came. It happened to be the first day of its opening and all peaches are still waiting to be picked, providing us a perfect place to take photos. After that, we picked some peaches as well and they all taste good." said Luo Xiuying, a visitor who likes sharing her life on Douyin (Chinese version of Tik Tok). A lot of visitors took photos of the plump peaches hanging on the branches.
"Since there is a large production of yellow peaches in Hunan, we selected some varieties that can ripen over 20 days earlier than other fruits thanks to the unique “microclimate” in the county, and our yellow peaches can seize the market earlier," said Huang Linbing, director of Yafeng yellow peaches base. He added, “There are several dealers who have signed contracts. They are going to pick the fruits today and over 1,000 kg of peaches will be delivered to the urban area of Chenzhou City tomorrow.”
The yellow peaches of Yafeng Fruit Planting Cooperative in Linwu County can ripen more than 20 days earlier than those in Yanling (a county in Zhuzhou City). The picking period of the first batch of yellow peaches can last for over 20 days to the end of May. The second batch would follow when the first batch has been sold out, with a picking period of 20 days as well. Therefore, the yellow peaches in Linwu can embrace a larger market as they become ripe earlier.
