The first watermelon festival was held at Liping Village, Fenshi Town recently to help its sales and create a “Lijiaping” brand through colorful activities.
In the greenhouse, there are big watermelons growing on the verdant vines that sprawl across the ground.
During the watermelon festival, such activities as guessing the size, picking, camping and barbecue attracted many citizens and merchants.
Besides, live streaming activities were also carried out to promote the sales of watermelon. Moreover, bayberry, yellow peach, Linwu pomelo and other agricultural products may be sold through online platforms in the future.
The cooperative staff recorded every planting process in the base and spread it through Wechat, Tiktok and other online media to make the watermelon and its ecological planting known by more people.
On the day of the festival, the turnover reached more than 30,000 yuan. At present, about 2,500 kilograms of watermelon is harvested per day, with a maximum of 4,000 kilograms.
The cooperative has built 120 standard greenhouses. It is estimated that it can produce 150,000 kilograms of watermelons every year, which can generate an income of two million yuan.
The festival can help further drive the sales of agricultural products for rural revitalization. It is hoped that more local agricultural products can be put on larger markets.
