Hunan sees more overseas projects in progress

Hunan province achieved remarkable results in advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and international cooperation on production capacity, according to the 6th Session of the Leading Group of Hunan Advancing BRI and International Cooperation on Production Capacity held in Changsha on June 10, 2022.

 

Hunan has established economic and trade relations with 227 countries and regions. In 2021, the total import and export volume of the province was about 600 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2 times over the beginning of the 13th Five-year Plan (2016-2020).
 
At present, the construction of many major projects like a surface water treatment plant in Rajshahi, Bangladesh and Pakistan tire plant have been started or completed, and some overseas projects such as metal materials industrial park in Cambodia, Hunan industrial park in Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire rubber plant are in progress steadily. 
 
In 2021, Hunan increased 378 million dollars of domestic investment in countries along the BRI.
  
Hunan Construction Engineering Group and Hunan Road & Bridge Group became one of the Top 250 ENR International Contractors again. China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation Hunan Branch has provided insurance for Hunan’s 14 key projects in countries along the BRI.
 
The opening-up platforms and channels continue to expand. In 2021, 1,072 China-Europe freight trains were operated, with a cargo value of about 3 billion dollars, an increase of 13.5 times and 5 times over the beginning of the 13th Five-year Plan respectively. 14 routes to 24 countries are operated regularly. 
 
The Hunan-Guangdong-Africa Huaihua-Beihu Gulf Port rail-sea combined transport train was put into operation. The international cargo and mail throughput of the province’s airports was 93,600 tons, an increase of 24.1%. The container throughput of Chenglingji Port, Yueyang was 600,600 TEUs, an increase of 18.1%. 
 
Port customs clearance facilitation continues to improve. The overall customs clearance time for imports and exports has been reduced by 81.72% and 90.10% respectively compared with 2017. The Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone has initiated more than 10 reforms, and 83.5% of the pilot tasks in the overall reform plan have been implemented.
