On the morning of July 2, farmers were clearing the silt and replanting peppers in the fields at the 3,000-mu (200 hectares) pepper base in Jingpo Town, Rucheng County.
Since June, due to several rounds of heavy rainfall, Jingpo Town’s part of infrastructures have been seriously damaged so that its agriculture industry has suffered heavy losses. After the disaster, Jingpo Town immediately made a scientific plan for self-rescue rather than wait for help. The town and village cadres were dispatched to map out the afflicted area, organizing people to repair the damaged water conservancy facilities, harvest and replant crops for the affected farmland.
