Chenzhou Beihu Airport General Aviation Base is a key project in the construction of the airports for navigation in Hunan Province. A new airport can add momentum to Chenzhou's development. If the project is put into use, it will lay a solid foundation for Chenzhou to be a navigable tourist destination, education and training base, service base and demonstration city in Hunan Province.
The project is located in the southwest of the terminal area of Chenzhou Beihu Airport, with an area of 203.48 mu (about 13.5 hectares) and a total investment of 216 million yuan. The station is equipped with 5 B-class, 9 A-class stands of fixed-wing airplanes and 5 helicopter stands, and is planned to build two by-pass taxiways, a hangar and a comprehensive navigation building. The project is designed simultaneously with Chenzhou Beihu Airport, sharing runways and the air traffic control and navigation facilities of Chenzhou Beihu Airport.
In April this year, after the completion of the runways, the civil engineering, general layout and on-site power supply work of the terminal area was officially launched, including a 2,996-square-meter hangar and a 2,428-square-meter comprehensive navigation building.
At present, the project has completed an investment of 201 million yuan, 93% of the total. It will be finished in July this year and the installation and commissioning of its equipment will be completed in mid-August.
Next, Chenzhou Beihu Airport General Aviation Base will be committed to being a national pilot area for unmanned aviation, a new hub for aviation consumption in South Central Region and a gathering area for aviation industry in Hunan Province. It will focus on the development of the core area which is under the industry chain of operation, service and security. It will implement the strategy of "Three Hubs and Four New Missions", and make greater contribution to the high-quality development of Chenzhou.
