It’s time to harvest the late-season rice. The 118,000 mu (about 7,866.66 hectares) of late rice in Jiahe County is entering the harvesting period. Harvesters and farmers were seen reaping the late-season rice in the paddy fields.
Farmer Lei Shisheng said, "In the past, we had to rely on cattle and human labor, but now everything can be done by machine, which saves much labor and time, but also increases production and income."
There is 13,000 mu (about 866.66 hectares) of late-season rice in Puman Township this year, which is now expecting a good harvest. The township has dispatched more than 50 machines and expects to finish harvesting the autumn grain in about 10 days.
In order to improve rice production and save planting costs, Jiahe County has vigorously advocated the cultivation of good rice seeds, high-yield cultivation, precise fertilization, integrated prevention and control, and urged farmers to do a good job of "busy harvesting early-season rice and planting late-season rice" to ensure the stable grain production.
This year, Jiahe County has grown rice of 313,000 mu (about 20,866.66 hectares), with the total output expected to reach 140,000 tons, mainly due to the promotion of new varieties of rice. The high-standard farmland and the machine transplanting area have increased year by year.
Besides, the mechanization has also been increased. This year, 265,000 mu (about 17,666.66 hectares) of rice was harvested by machine, accounting for 80%.
