More than 100 primary school students learned about how the rice, sorghum, soybeans and other crops were grown and harvested in the rice field of the experimental base of the Agricultural Science Research Institute in Anren County, Chenzhou City. The students watched and discussed while thinking about their questions raised by their teachers.
Later, a competition of “making scarecrows” was held in the rice fields after harvest, which required their imagination and practical abilities. The students were divided into red and blue teams. They cooperated with each other. Some made the hands and feet of the scarecrows; others put clothes and hats on them. The bales of straw were quickly turned into vivid scarecrows. The students spent an unusual and happy weekend.
