The wind turbine towers can be seen stand on the rolling ridges from Guangming Wind Farm in Liantang Town, Guiyang County.
At present, there are 81 wind turbine generators with a total installed capacity of 178,000 kilowatts and an annual power generation of nearly 400 million kWh, which can save 125,000 tons of standard coal.
Located in the hinterland of Wuling Mountain, Guiyang County boasts abundant wind energy resources. It is one of the billion-level wind power base areas in Hunan Province.
There is a narrow and fast wind belt over 60 kilometers, with an average wind speed of six to seven meters per second and the time of effective use of wind energy exceeding 2,000 hours per year. The differentiated rocky areas within its borders are particularly suitable for the development of ground-based photovoltaic power generation.
Guiyang County plans to develop wind power and photovoltaic new energy into 10-billion industries during the “14th Five-Year” period. All kinds of funds are encouraged to participate in the development to promote industrial transformation and upgrading.
The new energy construction command was established to settle disputes over the ownership of mountains and forests, road traffic and relocation of telegraph poles, so as to accelerate the construction of wind power and photovoltaic projects.
At the same time, the project owners are required to strictly enforce the regulations on soil erosion and vegetation restoration to effectively protect the ecology.
At present, Guiyang County has signed 31 wind power and photovoltaic projects, with a total investment of more than 17 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of more than 2.6 million kilowatts. 15 wind power and photovoltaic projects have been completed, with a total installed capacity of 812,000 kilowatts.
