Jiulong Yao Village, Rucheng County, Hunan Province, is located in the junction of Luoxiao Mountains and Nanling Mountains, attracting many tourists for the green mountains stretching endlessly.
Jiulong Village is situated in the sea of forests of Jiulongjiang Forest Park, with 123 households and 405 villagers. With an average altitude of more than 700 meters, and the annual normal temperature of more than 20 degrees Celsius, it’s known as a “plant kingdom” and “natural oxygen bar”.
In recent years, relying on its ecological advantages, Jiulong Yao Village has taken a development path integrating ancient Yao village, ecological tourism, homestay inns and wellness and tea experience.
On the roadside leading to popular scenic spots such as rainbow trail, the 58-year-old Deng Dongqiu’s homestay inn is particularly attractive. The two and a half story modern farmhouse covers 7 rooms and a small shop. The dazzling array of agricultural specialties at the stall also attracts many tourists.
Deng Dongqiu is busiest at noon. She needs to prepare meals for the guests living in the inn and for passing tourists.
Apart from regular dishes, she also prepares special dishes like Yao ethnic bacon, mushrooms and dried bamboo shoots. And seasonal vegetables such as pepper, beans and green vegetables are planted at the vegetable garden nearby.
Tourists can not only order dishes at a preferential price, but also enjoy a fast food service with 20 yuan per person, which can meet various needs of guests.
Since 2021, with the help of the scenic area management office, 8 homestay buildings with more than 70 standard guestrooms have been built at Lingzitou of Jiulong Village within six months.
The tourism industry has a good momentum of development, and has attracted tourists from Hengyang, Changsha, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities.
