Recently, the first Shaojigong Food & Culture Festival was held in Wanbao International Square in Chenzhou City, which attracted hundreds of citizens.
“Shaojigong” is a popular dish cooked with rooster and chilli, which is very spicy and tasty.
This event is one of the sub-activities of the first tourism conference in Beihu District in 2022, aiming to inherit and publicize traditional food culture, as well as build the local food brand of Beihu District.
On the scene, 10 chefs cooked the dish within a limited time, attracting many citizens passing by, who could taste the food for free and voted for the best dish and the most popular chef.
“Shaojigong” is the typical dish that has existed for hundreds of years. In the beginning, it was used as a sacrifice to pray for abundant grain in the next year and prosperity when a house was built.
Later, people found it beneficial to human body, such as dispelling the cold and helping teenagers grow taller, so it has gradually become a must-eat dish when people hold happy events.
