On the evening of February 17, the Hunan Rural Cultural Tourism Festival as well as the Rucheng Hot Spring Tourism Holiday Season opened in Reshui Town, Rucheng County, Chenzhou City.
During the festival, such activities as the Rucheng Burning Incense Dragon Dance Intangible Cultural Heritage Show, the China Outdoor Fitness and Leisure Conference (Rucheng Station), Hot Spring Wellness and Camping Activities and Rucheng Nuanshui Hot Spring Flower Sea Light Festival will be launched to display the “hot spring plus” business form unique to Chenzhou.
On the scene, hundreds of UAVs formed words and patterns, displaying the tourism brand image of Rucheng County, Chenzhou City, and Hunan Province. The night garden party showed the unique charm of Hunan’s cultural tourism scenic areas, intangible cultural heritage and characteristic agricultural products. The National Intangible Cultural Heritage item Rucheng Burning Incense Dragon Dance, which is made up of tens of thousands of ignited incense sticks and straws, made a stunning appearance.
At the opening ceremony, Chenzhou hot spring wellness tourism products were introduced, like Suxian Tiantang Hot Spring, Beihu Longnyu Hot Spring, Mangshan Forest Hot Spring, Rucheng Nuanshui Hot Spring and Reshui Hot Spring.
Su Qun, a famous basketball commentator, Zhong Jiahua, a well-known media person on Douyin platform and others have been appointed as the tourism promoters of Rucheng. They will use their influence on social media platforms to promote Rucheng’s tourism. During the performance, the singer Yuan Shuxiong sang his hit songs to welcome people to Rucheng to bathe in a hot spring.
The Hunan Rural Cultural Tourism Festival has been held for 24 times since 2016. It has become an effective measure to advance the transformation of Hunan’s rural cultural tourism industry and boost cultural tourism consumption. At the festival, Hunan’s characteristic rural cultural tourism products were also released, inviting tourists to experience the beautiful scenery, hot springs and folk customs of Hunan.
In recent years, Chenzhou has taken advantage of hot spring resources, developed differentiated hot spring product business forms such as green health care, forest vacation, themed entertainment and cultural experience to accelerate the transformation of resource advantages to product advantages.
Since the preparation of the event, Rucheng has added two hot spring vacation projects, namely Nuanshui Hot Spring and Guanxi Holiday Resort. Rucheng Hot Spring Cultural Park has been upgraded and attracted tourists in droves.
During the Spring Festival holiday this year, the number of tourists coming to Rucheng to soak in the hot spring was 10 times more than the same period last year. The number of tourists received by the county increased by 727.7% year on year, hitting a new high in the same period of three years and showing a new way of boosting rural revitalization through cultural tourism.
Chenzhou is the host city of the second Hunan Tourism Development Conference. As the first warm-up activity, this festival has promoted the hot spring brand of Rucheng by popular means such as short videos, helped develop Chenzhou into a national well-known hot spring wellness city and make it a world tourist destination.
