This year, Guidong County, while building a “Hunan Youth Nature Education Green Campsite” and “Hong Kong and Macao Youth Research and Learning Exchange Base” in Qingzhu Village, will actively carry out the construction of projects involving urban and rural appearance improvement, tourist attractions development, ecological agriculture, etc., in an effort to promote the high-quality development of Guidong’s green industry and contribute to the second Hunan tourism development conference to be held in Chenzhou.
Gong Meirong, a villager of Qingzhu Village working in the farming experience base, said, “Since the local government introduced Guidong Yunduan Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., villagers have been able to work at their hometown with a monthly salary of more than 1,800 yuan and receive the rent from land transfer. With the income from the operation of homestay inns in July and August, they can have a respectable annual income.”
Gong Meirong said that this year, under the guidance of the county, town and village cadres, she has improved the quality of her homestay inn. Now, she has joined the company Yunduan to learn the green vegetable planting technology. Her life is getting better.
In 2023, to build a modern agricultural education and cultivation base integrating ecological agriculture demonstration, agricultural labor experience and agricultural science popularization and exchange, Qingzhu Village introduced Guidong Yunduan Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd. and transferred more than 150 mu (10 hectares) of land with a total planned investment of 5 million yuan.
The base has set up such farming experience areas as the fun paddy field, the melon and fruit picking area, agriculture science area and the dry land of learning agricultural production, enabling teenagers to soak up the farming culture and promote all-round development.
“With an average altitude of 1,200 meters, Qingzhu Village is most suitable for planting alpine anti-season green ecological vegetables.” Luo Guibo, a manager of Yunduan Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd., said that in July and August, more than 100 homestay inns in Qingzhu Village receive an average of over 6,000 guests per day. The base is a good place for tourists to experience farming life.
In the off-season, the base can offer more than 50 jobs. The vegetables and fruits planted will serve the dining table in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Qingzhu Village is a national forest village, a provincial-level demonstration village of beautiful countryside and a provincial-level leisure agriculture cluster development demonstration village. Now “two bases” are under construction. Every year, an endless stream of tourists gravitates to Qingzhu for summer vacation and wellness tourism.
“During the Spring Festival holiday this year, nearly 60,000 people came to Qingzhu Village for leisure and sightseeing.” Li Huiyong, Party secretary of Qingzhu Village, said that during the peak season, tourists not only can eat fresh vegetables in the base, but also can claim a vegetable field to experience farming life.
Tourists are welcome to Guidong to taste green and healthy food, enjoy ecological wellness life and admire the beautiful natural scenery.
