Changsha County artistic volunteers tour Dawan Village

In order to promote the cultural relic sites under provincial-level protection, such as Bangyandi (the former residence of Xia Shi and Xia Shoutian, famous officials in the Qing Dynasty) and Xia’s Family Ancestral Temple Ancient Stage located in the Chinese traditional village Dawan Village, Liantang Town, Guiyang County, and to increase the cultural exchange between Changsha County and Guiyang County, the literary and artistic volunteers from Changsha County went on a tour to Dawan Village, Guiyang County recently.
The volunteers had a detailed knowledge of the protection and development of the cultural relics and historic sites, the collection and display of Bangyandi’s cultural relics and literature information, and the current situation of rural vitalization after visiting a series of scenic spots like Xia’s Family Ancestral Temple, Zhongchengdi, Bangyandi, Hanlinfang and Xia’s Family Ancestral Temple Ancient Stage.
Walking in the ally paved with bluestone slabs and the mottled ancient street and enjoying ancient Southern Hunan residences built in the Qing Dynasty , the volunteers can feel Xia Shoutian’s deep sense of national identity and thick Bangyan (the second place at palace examinations) culture.
Xia’s Family Ancestral Temple Ancient Stage, founded in the late Qianlong period, has a smart design, a unique structure and exquisite sculptures. In the middle and late period of the Qing Dynasty, there were over 50 high-level officials in the government. The volunteers, watching and listening, took photos of the beautiful scenery and experienced the charm of traditional culture.
On the afternoon of the day, the volunteers wrote Xia Shoutian’s poems and couplets created on site with brushes.
The activity further enhanced the cultural communication of the two counties, and stimulated the volunteers’ creative inspiration. Fine literary and artistic works were produced to promote Dawan Village and empower rural cultural vitalization.
