The crispy peaches in Kangping Village, Pailou Township, Anren County ushered in its first bumper harvest, attracting many local villagers in droves to pick.
In recent years, Kangping Village has increased income through crispy peaches.
He Xiaowen, head of the Qianmu Peach Planting Professional Cooperative in Anren County, said that in 2020, he returned to his hometown to start a business and tried to plant 300 mu (20 hectares) of crispy peaches.
After three decades in the army, He Xiaowen wanted to go back to his hometown to drive the local economy through his efforts. This orchard used to be barren land grown with tall weeds. After three years of careful cultivation, this year is the first year of fruiting, and the yield of each tree can reach about 15 kg.
Apart from picking experience, the peaches are also sold on the Internet. Through offline and online sales, orders come in flocks with the peaches sold to other cities.
He Xiaowen said that more than 200 boxes are sold through online shopping malls and about 250 kg through offline channels a day.
In recent years, the village has encouraged more locals working outside back to start businesses and develop characteristic industries such as vine tea, crispy peaches and corn to promote rural revitalization.
The village secretary said, “He Xiaowen returned back to start a business and transferred 300 mu (20 hectares) of land to build a peach orchard in the village. This helps provide 500 jobs for local villagers a year, and generates 10,000 yuan in annual income for the village collective.”
