The branch farm of Jinpen Village in Shunfeng Town is located in the mountains at an altitude of 800 meters. This area was a barren field one year ago. Relying on unique geographical advantages, the locals planted Dachong chili and ginger to drive the collective industrial development of the village.
On the farm, villagers were busy weeding and irrigating ginger plants, which will be harvested one month later.
Villagers working on the farm can earn double income through land transfer and farm work.
The farm belongs to the agricultural and forestry area. In the past, due to scattered fields, poor irrigation, and low farming efficiency, local villagers went out to work, leaving a large area of land abandoned.
To make the best of these land resources, improve the land efficiency, and activate the potential for agricultural development, local cadres decided to rent the idle out for scale management.
The construction of water supply and drainage facilities and tractor roads in the farm has been completed, which can help realize the two-season rotation of yellow gingers and peppers.
Chen Hongfa, Party branch secretary of Jinpen Village, said that the branch farm covers a total area of 120 mu (8 hectares), with a total investment of 860,000 yuan, provides job opportunities for more than 20 villagers.
It’s expected that the output value is 680,000 yuan, and the net income is 240,000 yuan.
The soil is rich in selenium and oxygen, so the agricultural products grown here have high-added values and broad market prospects.
The golden gingers and spicy peppers symbolize the prosperous prospects of Jinpen Village on the path of industrial development. Next, the village will focus on developing local specialties.
The branch farm is built in two phases. A 4-hectare vegetable base has been built and a 4-hectare rice-fish base will be built this winter. The vegetables are growing well, expecting a bumper harvest.
