This is the first public culture and art village in Chenzhou City built by Beihu District. It combines the existing rural resources with culture and art to promote literature and art in the countryside, opening a new channel for rural revitalization through artistic means.

 

The art village is composed of Zhiqing Art Inn, Art Courtyard and Qixian Pavilion. The rooms there are all renovated from the deserted houses, idle tobacco drying rooms and factory sheds in the village. It will be built into a gathering place for literary and artistic talents and an art creation base with identification, attraction and influence, forming a new business form integrating literary and artistic creation, interactive communication, project incubation and study.

 

Courtyards including “calligraphy yard”, “photography yard”, “poetry yard” and “wood carving yard” are arranged in alignment, amid green trees and flowers. 

 

“The local government brings in well-known artists and we provide free space,” said Chen Bibo, head of Zhiqing Art Village, adding that all the cultural experience projects in the art village are free of charge, and tourists are welcome to visit.

 

“It will bring freshness and vitality to photography, and focusing camera on rural workers and rural culture is also an improvement for photography.” said Chen Xinyun, a member of the Photographers Association of Beihu District.

 

In addition to carrying out daily academic exchanges among artists, each association will also arrange personnel on duty every day, collect materials for creation every month and give a quarterly exhibition to better serve the rural masses and tourists.

 

“Zhiqing Art Village brings a series of cultural skills to the rural people, provides a platform for art lovers to create works and exchange ideas, brings literary and artistic workers closer to the masses, and also helps to excavate the unique culture of Beihu District and create more literary and artistic works,” said He Zongguo, chairman of the Beihu District Literary Federation.

 

In recent years, the Beihu District government has attached great importance to the cause of literature and art, vigorously improved the construction of literary and artistic positions, persisted in deepening the socialization of public cultural services, encouraged social forces to participate in public cultural construction, thus striving to create a unique cultural IP of Beihu District.
