On the evening of October 15, more than 500 people watched opera performances in Haoshan Village, Jinzixian Town, Anren County.
Jinzixian Town is the remotest township in Anren County, with 24 administrative villages, and the farthest village is 80 kilometers from the county seat. It’s not convenient for actors to give a performance in the village.
To enrich the cultural and spiritual life of people in the remote regions and address the issue of limited access to opera performances, from October 13 to 19, Anren County Flower-Drum Opera Protection and Inheritance Center spent a week giving opera performances at various villages of the town.
The humorous and relatable plays such as “Liu Hai Cutting Firewood,” “Searching for the Child,” and “Pearl Tower” were warmly welcomed by local residents.
A villager expressed his excitement, saying, “Although we can watch exciting programs on TV and our phones, it is the most enjoyable to watch a big show like this right at our doorstep, where we can enjoy it for free with our neighbors and fellow villagers.”
To save travel time, the actors even carried their tents and cooking utensils to wherever they performed.
From January to October, Anren County has organized a total of 127 village performances, including 35 tent performances.
