Dongjiang Lake is a key lake under national ecological environment protection and a national strategic water source. In recent years, Zixing City has continually improved its river and lake chief system and has made substantial efforts in the prevention and control of pollution in the drinking water source of the Dongjiang Lake. The annual water quality in the water source protection area of the Dongjiang Lake has consistently met Grade I standards for surface water. All water environment functional zones throughout the city meet standards, and all centralized drinking water source sites also meet standards.
