Hong Kong youth starts business in Chenzhou

2023-11-22

There is a distinctive green building complex in Linwu County, Chenzhou City, which is the location of Koshin Electronics (Chenzhou) Limited, a leading capacitor enterprise in Chenzhou City, and also a place where Du Jiajie achieves his dream.

Koshin was founded in Hong Kong in 1984, mainly engaged in R&D, production, and sales of aluminum electrolytic capacitors and conductive polymer capacitors. In 2012, due to production expansion, the company was relocated to Linwu County, near the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, after an inspection in Hunan.

Du Jiajie, 35 years old, was born in Hong Kong and studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in the United States, and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

After the establishment of the company in Chenzhou, he was mainly responsible for procurement and order processing, customer service, overseas customer marketing, and other work.

“At that time, the manufacturing industry in Linwu was basically in a blank state. In order to help the company go into production as soon as possible, the local government made great efforts from talent, funds, services, and other aspects,” said Du Jiajie, adding that Linwu County Vocational School has also offered specialized courses and provided more than 1,000 talents of various types for the company.

Du Jiajie has established four development and research teams to study the production of highly reliable and long-life electrolytic capacitors and conductive polymer stacked solid-state capacitors in a bid to break through core raw material technology.

He has also facilitated the cooperation between the company and Central South University, and developed a long-lived and high specific capacitance stacked solid-state capacitor, filling the gap in domestic production.

The company has won more than 30 titles, like “National High-tech Enterprise” and “National-level Little Giant Enterprise”.

More than 30 independent research and development achievements have obtained national intellectual property protection patent certificates.

Du Jiajie has also introduced a series of management systems to effectively save energy and human resources, making production management more targeted and efficient.

At the same time, he has developed new customers and sold the products to multiple regions around the world, such as Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

At present, Koshin Electronics has factories of over 220,000 square meters, with over 1,400 employees and 610 automated production lines for aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

“There are about 150 people in our R&D team, including over 20 R&D talents at home and abroad in Hunan,” he said.

In order to retain talents, he has established an employee home with various supporting facilities such as a gym and a cinema. Linwu County also provides help with children’s education, living, and external environment to retain talents.

To his satisfaction, in recent years, Linwu County has built a cluster area for the Hunan- Guangdong electronic capacitor industry, with a good momentum.

“A good development environment has also promoted the high-quality development. So far, we have introduced 8 upstream and downstream enterprises into Linwu.” He added that in the future, the company will continue efforts to attract more enterprises in the electronic capacitor industry chain to invest and develop in Hunan.
