Recently, a Tragopan caboti was captured by an infrared camera in the Mangshan Mountain National Natural Reserve, Yizhang County.
Tragopan caboti captured this time is a male bird. In the video, this Tragopan caboti elegantly walks around the forest with its long tail feathers. It’s about one year old, so its feathers are not as bright as adult ones.
Tragopan caboti, like the giant panda, is an endangered species unique to China. It’s a national first-class protected animal.
In recent years, Mangshan Mountain has increased efforts in scientific research and protection of wildlife in the protected area, with 100 infrared cameras distributed within 200 square kilometers of the protected area. Through the cameras, more than 50 kinds of national wildlife, including musk deer and leopard cat, have been found. Among them, there are 9 species of national first-class key protected wildlife.
