Livestreaming helps promote tea sales

2024-04-03

Relying on ecological advantages, an organic tea company was introduced into Guanxi Township, Yizhang County. The base shows tea picking, tea production and other processes to netizens and merchants through online livestreaming, with the aim to promote the sales of tea in mountainous areas.

It has created a brand of Yunwu Tea to help increase farmers’ income and promote rural revitalization.

Workers are busy picking spring tea leaves in the organic tea planting base of Yizhang County. In the peak season of spring tea picking, Yu Yongjuan, sales director of the tea farm born in the 1990s, introduces tea picking and tea making techniques through short videos and livestreaming sessions, working to show and promote Yunwu Tea to the public.

“Last year, we harvested over 8,000 kg of tea, and half of them were sold through e-commerce platforms to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Changsha and other places,” said Yu Yongjuan. Online livestreaming made the high-quality tea from the base sold nationwide.

Low latitude, high altitude, clouds and mists, abundant sunshine and pollution-free have created high-quality tea here. Relying on these unique geographical and climatic conditions, the base adopts organic fertilizer and other green planting technologies to reduce pesticide residues and improve tea quality, making its tea popular with consumers.

The company began to plant tea trees in 2014. The tea planting area has increased from 80 mu (about 5.33 hectares) at the beginning to over 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares) now, and a tea processing plant and other facilities were also built.

The company has implemented certification of organic tea brands and GI products, and innovated tea sales methods. It can achieve sales revenue of over 3 million yuan per year, driving about 200 people in the surrounding areas to increase income at their doorstep.
