A bustling scene is seen at a Nan bamboo processing plant in Tandong Village, Xiangyindu Subdistrict, Yongxing County.
The soil and climate in Tandong Village are very suitable for planting Nan bamboo. The total area of Nan bamboo in the village is over 6,000 mu (400 hectares).
To fully tap the resource advantage, Dai Xiaomao invested over 10 million yuan in 2021 to establish a Nan bamboo processing plant.
“The products we process can be used as concrete templates, soleplates for high-speed trains, ships and containers, which are sold to Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong and other places nationwide. The annual output value reaches 12 million yuan and we create 80 job opportunities for locals. The processing plant also drives the sales of Nan bamboo in surrounding villages like Xinwan, Dasi, Donghong and Jiakou,” said Dai Xiaomao.
Bamboo materials are processed into beautiful bamboo curtains through a series of processes like mechanical cutting, splitting, drawing and weaving. This is attributed to superb technical skills, and hard work like bamboo cutting and transportation.
To solve the transportation difficulties, a sand and gravel road leading to Nan bamboo forest was built.
“Building a Nan bamboo processing plant not only solves sales of Nan bamboo which hides in the mountains, but also expands the channels for villagers to increase income, leading to the common development of ecological and economic benefits,” said Dai Zhipeng, the village secretary.
