“There are about 100 people picking lotus seeds every day, and they can pick 4,000 to 5,000 kilograms of lotus seeds per day,” said the head of Xianglian Base in Heping Village. 

 

He added that the market price for white lotus seeds made from fresh ones is 90 to 100 yuan per kilogram, while wet lotus seeds are 60 yuan per kilogram. The current economic benefits per mu (about 0.067 hectares) are about 5,000 to 6,000 yuan.

 

The village secretary introduced that this year, the village transferred over 1,000 mu (about 66.67 hectares) of land to plant Xianglian lotus, and the land transfer fee is 300 yuan per mu (about 0.067 hectares). 

 

At present, the lotus seed yield of Xianglian base in Heping village is about 200 kg per mu (0.067 hectares), and the annual output can reach 200,000 kg, driving the employment of about 100 people in the surrounding areas.
