Dui Zi Diao is performed by a female role and a negative role (or a clown), with a short and simple story. It mainly tells stories about labour and love. Its tunes are mainly folk songs. Usually, the female role performs movements with a handkerchief and the negative role with an oil-paper fan. The content of the opera is witty and funny, and it is a typical song and dance type of performance. 

 

 

In 2009, Chenyang Dui Zi Diao was listed in the second batch of representative items of intangible cultural heritage at city level. In 2016, it was listed in the fourth batch of representative items of provincial intangible cultural heritage and renamed as Chenyang Huadeng Opera.
