It was learned from Yongxing Forestry Bureau that Yongxing county kept improving the development of oil-tea industry and gained great results. From the beginning of this spring, it finished the land leveling work for 9000mu lands and oil-tea plantation work for 6000mu lands, accounting for 180% and 120% of the tasks designated by the city respectively. It was estimated that about 10,000mu oil tea plantation would be finished in the end of this month.

Yongxing county is famous as “oil-tea county of China” and is the national demonstration county of oil-tea forest and large oil-producing county of Hunan province. There are 0.621million mu oil-tea forests (including 0.52million mu forest in full bearing age) available in Yongxing county, accounting for 30.8% of the county’s forest and 3.5% of Hunan province oil tea forest.

In recent years, Yongxing county took active actions to popularize the models of “company+ base+ farmer”, “cooperative+ base+ farmer”, contracting for afforestation, and etc. and machinery operation, and cultivation of professional teams, which helped to improve the development scale and oil-tea industry. Currently, 12 big oil tea companies, 11 professional oil-tea cooperatives, and 32 big oil-tea planting families are available in the county. It improved 72,000mu high standard oil tea demonstration forest and retreated 140,000mu low bearing forests. Yuanhe Oil Tea Professional Cooperative was awarded as “national demonstration of farmers professional cooperative” and “Yuanhe oil-tea comprehensive processing project” was selected as one of the major industrial projects of Chenzhou city. The project has been placed to operation in 2015 and its annual yield can be over 10,000tons. At the meantime, the county figured out the target to explore 0.3million mu basic oil-tea forest reserve Matian, Youma, Yuelai, Yangtang, Gaotingsi, Bianjiang, Huangni, Jingui, and other towns and villages. It aimed to develop fine breed base of oil tea and high yield oil tea base on the basis of “Yongxing Zhongbaohongqiu” brand- one of the fine oil tea breeds of Yongxing county. The project is being under construction and will play solid foundation for the comprehensive development and processing of oil-tea.

In 2015, 19,753tons of oil tea seeds were collected in Yongxing county, producing 3725tons of tea oil, accounting for 410million yuan output value. Oil tea industry is being improved as a pillar industry for increasing farmers’ income.
