In the power production workshop of Hunan GiantSun Power Corporation (GSP) in Chenzhou High-tech Zone Taiwan Industrial Park, boxes of produced high-power density GaN green power suppliers were packed and will be sent to customers at home and abroad.
“Every week, there are many customers placing orders. And now, the production for the orders has been scheduled for four months,” said Guo Xiaolei, assistant to the general manager of GSP.
To ensure delivery, the company is ramping up production and recruiting new employees to expand production capacity.
GSP is a well-known electronics manufacturer and service provider. The products cover over 1,000 models like wireless charge, shared power bank, robot vacuum cleaner and TWS Bluetooth headset.
As a national high-tech enterprise, it has driven industrial upgrading through sci-tech innovation, with rapid development in recent years. In the first half of this year, the company achieved sales of 1.3 billion yuan.
Among them, the GaN green power supply is one of its core products, with the leading technology in China. This series of products are exported to more than 60 countries and regions, with growing sales volume.
Zhan Haifeng, director of the company’s R&D department, said that this product not only reduces energy consumption, saves production materials, but also reduces electromagnetic environmental pollution to the power grid and space, bringing significant ecological and social benefits.
Behind this achievement is the enormous investment and dedication of GSP in technological innovation, scientific research and industrial upgrading in the past twenty years.
With the development of intelligent technology, the popularization of environmental protection concepts, and the iteration of power supply technology, high-efficiency, high-power density and miniaturized green power sources have become the direction of power supply technology development.
In earlier years, with the application of third-generation semiconductor gallium nitride (GaN) power devices in power supplies, the development of miniaturization of power supplies was to some extent promoted.
However, at that time, there were still practical bottlenecks that affected its promotion due to poor performance.
To overcome the above-mentioned technical bottlenecks, starting from 2020, GSP and Sun Yat-sen University jointly built the “Hunan Province Third Generation Semiconductor GaN Green Power Engineering Technology Research Center” and “GaN Power Device Dynamic Detection Platform” to carry out research and development on the technical difficulties of high-power density GaN high-frequency switching power supplies.
The expert team of Sun Yat-sen University utilizes its research advantages and experience in GaN power electronic materials and devices to provide strategic and directional guidance and technical consulting for GSP in green power research.
Through in-depth cooperation, the problem of GaN devices that was commonly encountered and affected their promotion has been solved.
The technological breakthroughs have improved the overall technical level of the domestic industry, played a driving role in promoting regional economic development, creating new job opportunities, energy conservation and emission reduction. It’s of great significance for the national energy revolution in promoting consumer electronics, civil appliances, industrial and commercial power sources and others, and for the realization of the “dual carbon” goals.
“In the future, we will expand green power to outdoor power sources and other application scenarios, develop high-capacity energy storage products (3-20KWh), and devote ourselves to the development of household energy storage system products. We will combine solar new energy generation technology to ensure the extended application and sustainable development of this technology,” said Zhan Haifeng.
GSP has made unremitting efforts in technological innovation. As of now, the company has completed the transformation and application of over 10 sci-tech achievements in efficient, energy-saving and green power supply, applied for over 150 national patents, including 15 invention patents.
In June 2022, it was evaluated by authoritative institutions as reaching the leading level in China. In December 2022, it was recognized as a provincial key industrial new product. In 2023, it was approved as a provincial expert workstation.
Fund and talent are key to a company’s technological research and development.
The annual R&D fund of GSP accounts for more than 3% of the total sales, and there are over 260 R&D workers, which provides a strong guarantee for sci-tech innovation.
The tremendous strength and good industry reputation of the enterprise make it favored by more world-renowned enterprises. Since 2023, GSP has cooperated and negotiated with world-renowned robotic vacuum cleaners such as Ecovacs, Dreame, and iRobot to develop various types of intelligent robotic vacuum cleaners.
“If all the above-mentioned sweeping robot brands can be put into production as there are orders, our company’s annual output value is expected to reach 3-6 billion yuan,” said Guo Xiaolei.
