In recent years, Chenzhou EDZ has implemented the concepts of resource conservation and environmental friendliness, aiming to make progress in layout agglomeration, green structure and ecological linkage.  

 

Firstly, it has promoted the high-end transformation of industrial structure. Concentrated efforts have been made to develop strategic emerging industries and high-end industries for industrial upgrading and transformation.

 

By 2023, Chenzhou EDZ has formed an industrial system dominated by electronic information, new materials, equipment manufacturing and biopharmaceuticals, with the output value of the leading industries accounting for over 95% of the park’s total industrial output value. 

 

It has also seized the development opportunities of the new industry, integrated resource advantages, deeply integrated into the effort to make Chenzhou a capital of batteries in China, and accelerated the construction of a green industrial development system for lithium-ion new energy.

 

There are now 17 battery energy storage enterprises, including 6 above designated size. 

 

Secondly, it has accelerated the low-carbon transformation of energy consumption. It has vigorously introduced clean energy projects such as CR Sanjiu, Xianggong Environmental Protection, and Shigaitang distributed photovoltaic power generation. It has also increased the proportion of clean energy consumption, improved energy utilization efficiency, and built a clean, efficient, and low-carbon industrial energy consumption structure. 

 

In the past three years, the proportion of clean energy in the park has increased by over 5% annually, with electricity as the main energy consumption, supplemented by coal and diesel.

 

Thirdly, it has promoted the sustainable transformation of resource utilization. It has reduced the production of industrial solid waste and wastewater, and increased the recovery and utilization of waste heat resources.

 

In the past three years, the water resource output rate, land resource output rate, the comprehensive utilization rate of industrial solid waste, and reuse rate of industrial water in the park have all exceeded the leading values. 

 

The recovery and utilization rate of waste heat resources has all exceeded 80%, exceeding the leading value by more than 20%.

 

Enterprises including CR Sanjiu and Upass New Materials have taken the lead in adding waste heat utilization equipment. 

 

Fourthly, it has promoted the construction of green infrastructure. It has vigorously promoted green buildings and improved the supply level of green infrastructure in the park by introducing green building and new material enterprises such as Wanhua Ecological New Home Decoration and Oriental Yuhong. 

 

In the past three years, the proportion of green buildings in newly-built industrial buildings and that of new energy public transformation usage in the park have both been 100%. 

 

Finally, it has improved the green manufacturing support system. It has compiled the “Action Plan in Hunan (Chenzhou) Economic Development Zone (2021-2025)”, integrating the concept of green development into the overall development of the park from a strategic perspective, gradually improving the whole green manufacturing system and the long-term mechanism for industrial green and low-carbon transformation. 

 

The title of a national green industrial park is a recognition of Chenzhou EDZ’s efforts in implementing the green develop concept.

 

“We will make continuous efforts to reform and innovate technologies, optimize and upgrade industries, and strive to be a benchmark model for national green industrial parks,” said an official of Chenzhou EDZ.

 

 

In recent years, Chenzhou EDZ has worked to build a national economic development zone, a “Five Good” industrial park and a 100-billion-yuan park. Efforts have been made in environment optimization, investment attraction, project construction, enterprise assistance and quality improvement. 

 

It has achieved major breakthroughs. It has one national technology enterprise incubator and two national maker spaces. It has been rated as a national small and micro enterprise entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration base, a national entrepreneurship incubation demonstration base, a national foreign trade transformation and upgrading base (jewelry), a national characteristic carrier for the integrated development of large, medium-sized and small enterprises, and a national demonstration logistics park. 

 

In 2022, it ranked 17th among the “Five Good” parks in the province and first in southern Hunan region.
