Featured with the humid subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, Chenzhou abounds in sunshine and rainwater.
Chenzhou is famous as “the world museum of nonferrous metal”, "the home of nonferrous metal in China”, energy base of Hunan, key forest zone in south China, “Silver city of China”, outstanding tourist city of China, “the home of hot spring in China”, international small hydropower base of the UN, and one of the first batch of national major bases carrying out he processing trade transfer.
Situated in southeast of Hunan Province, Chenzhou enjoys convenient transportation to Jiangxi Province, Guangdong Province and Guangxi Province on its east, south and west respectively. It is near to Hong Kong and Macao. The length of highways open to traffic reaches 11,400 kilometers, and Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Wuhan-Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line (PDL) pass through the city. At present, Chenzhou Civil Flight Airport is being planned.
In 2006, Chenzhou ranked the 13th among China’s Top 20 Cities with Investment Potential in the eyes of transnational corporations.
