2014-02-26

Though it was cold in the middle of February, villagers of Nitang village of Guidong county were busy in taking free tea planting training courses which was a part of “rain project” launched by Guidong Poverty Relief Office. It was learned that 20,000 pieces of “Tea Training Material” were published and dispatched to the villagers by the county. Some professional technicians were invited to carry out the training courses there to facilitate the villagers’ spring ploughing work.

It was learned that some investigations concerned for reserve of agricultural material and spring ploughing were carried out by some agricultural departments of Guidong county. They were purposely to teach the farmers with some technologies for the safety of crops in winter, increase yield of land, fertilization, etc. 25,000mu more green manure areas were confirmed to promote some comprehensive farming technologies on the basis of 40,000mu areas promoted in 2013, benefiting over 40,000 farmers with free technological service. On the other hand, Guidong Rural Commercial Bank issued more favorable policies to serve for the loan of farmers, especially on the capitals concerned for chemical fertilizer, pesticide, seed, farm machinery, etc. Till now, 65 million yuan loans have been released to the farmers, which greatly helped to stimulate farmers’ positivity to handle the spring ploughing issues. Furthermore, enhanced supervision and enforcement work was carried out by relative departments to fight for the illegal behaviors in the market and ensure the safety and rights of farmers.

It was reported that the estimated crops planting areas would be over 198,000mu in Guidong county in 2014, 140,000mu of which was for semilate rice, 40,000mu for corn, 18000mu for other crops and 50,000mu for vegetables. According to the data, 4.3tons of semilate rice, 1300tons of nitrogenous fertilizer, 2200tons of compound fertilizer and 1100tons of phosphatic fertilizer were available for Guidong county’s reserve of agricultural materials, which were enough under current situation. The fertilizer, pesticides and other agricultural reserves were accounted for about 80% of its annual volume.
