At the construction site, workers were installing and assembling the escalator in an orderly manner.  As the installation site is located in a high mountain forest, to ensure safe and orderly installation, the construction workers used a high-altitude cable hoist to lift the elevator in sections into the designated position for installation.

The escalator starts from the parking lot of Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area and ends at Qingliangtai. The distance between the two stations is 290 meters, with a total of 11 elevators, 6 going up and 5 going down, and a lifting height of 101 meters. The total investment of the project is 40.193 million yuan. The escalator is designed to operate at a speed of 0.5 meters per second, and it only takes 10 minutes to go up, with a maximum hourly passenger capacity of about 4,500 people.

“Currently, we are installing the 5 escalators going down. The hoisting is expected to be completed on August 20, and the installation and commissioning will be completed around August 22,” said Zhang Limin, the person in charge of the on-site construction of the Tiantai Mountain improvement project.

“When tourists visit Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area, they need to climb 499 steps first. The slope is steep and the steps are long, which is very difficult for some elderly people, disabled people, and tourists pushing strollers,” Zhang Limin explained.

After the completion of this project, tourists can take the escalator to the top of Tiantai Mountain, which will further enhance their experience.

At the same time, it will realize barrier-free access between Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area and Wuzhi Peak Scenic Area, promote the deep integration of the two major scenic areas, and make the Mangshan’s barrier-free tourism more brilliant.
