China Design Group Co., Ltd. won the bid for the feasibility study project of capacity expansion project of Hengyang Leiyang-Chenzhou Yizhang (Hunan and Guangdong boundary) section of G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, marking a solid step forward in the capacity expansion project of Hunan section of G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway.
In recent years, with the rapid development of economy, the traffic flow of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway in Hunan Province presents a trend of rapid growth. The current daily average traffic volume is close to 50000 pcu/d, and the service level is low. Therefore, the expansion project is imminent.
The capacity expansion project of G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway in Hunan Province is a section of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao National Expressway in Hunan Province. It starts from Leiyang City (the junction of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and Chachang Expressway), goes south through Leiyang, Yizhang and other counties and cities, ends at Yizhang Xiaotang (the boundary between Hunan and Guangdong Province), and connects with the north Guangdong section of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, with a total length of about 146 km.

The executive meeting of Hunan provincial government has approved the highway network layout plan of Hunan Province (2021-2050) (hereinafter referred to as the plan) in principle. According to the plan, Hunan will build a "moderate scale, smooth internal and external" expressway network. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we will ensure that the existing planned "seven vertical and seven horizontal" expressway network will be fully completed five years ahead of schedule.
On the basis of speeding up the implementation of the 1788km extension project, we will focus on three key points: first, vigorously promote the capacity expansion and reconstruction of the congested sections of G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and G60 Shanghai-Kunming, so as to smooth the "cross" channel of one vertical and one horizontal highway; second, comprehensively promote the implementation of the planning prospect line, further improve the traffic conditions of the relatively backward areas, and consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation; third, start the construction of new national high-speed grid projects and other road network optimization projects, to alleviate the traffic pressure of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration and improve the regional highway channel.
In recent years, with the opening of "G0421" Xuguang Expressway (two-way six lane), Hengyang is more and more convenient to travel to the GBA . With the opening of Guangzhou-Lianyungang Expressway next year, the commuting time between Hengyang and Guangzhou will be shortened to 5.5 hours.
According to the director's conjecture, the capacity expansion project of G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway (Hengyang Leiyang-Chenzhou Yizhang section) will probably enter the survey and design stage in the first half of 2021, and will enter the substantive construction stage in the second half or 2022. At the same time, Hengyang is currently under construction, including Changqi Expressway, Bainan Expressway, Hengyong Expressway, Chachang Expressway, etc.
