On August 1, the original drama "The Story of Black Stone" (Heritage Version), elaborately rehearsed by the Provincial Kunqu Opera Troupe, was performed at the Zixing Theatre, attracting nearly 1000 Hunan Kunqu fans to watch the performance.

The newly edited Kunqu Opera "The Story of Black Stone" is an original large-scale stage Kunqu Opera, sponsored by the National Art Fund, which is adapted from the story of the real historical figure of Chenzhou, Liu Zhan, a wise Prime Minister in the Tang Dynasty. According to historical records, Liu Zhan once lived in Wushiji near the Chenjiang River, but was relegated to Huanzhou (now Vietnam) for trying to save the innocent. His rigid as hard as black stone,honest and poor-bearing character has always been respected by people. "The Story of Black Stone" takes Liu Zhan's wife as the breakthrough point, and further reflects Liu Zhan's upright personality by portraying the beautiful image of his wife, which has a very strong practical educational significance.

The unique branch of Kunqu Opera in China, which has both elegant and simple music, shows the wild and bold characters in its exquisite performance. For various reasons, Hunan Kunqu Opera has retained and inherited a considerable number of singing and stage expression techniques that other Kunqu Opera troupes have lost, making the repertoire of Hunan Kunqu Opera have a distinctive artistic feature.

It was understood that after the rehearsal, "The Story of Black Stone" was premiered in Changsha on July 5, followed by a number of tours in and out of the province.
