What a Wonderful “Chinese Feast”!
“It looks just like real streaky pork! The litchis like to drip with water……” Visitors were amazed by the dishes of “Chinese feast” which were carved with stones.
“All those were made of agalmatolite which is one of the four traditional signet stones of China. Fujian province’s agalmatolite is one of the treasures of China,” said Lin Qinglai, the Executive Member of Fujian Arts & Crafts Association and Senior Technician who created the feast. As introduced by Lin, there are over 100 species of agalmatolite. Different material, color, texture, shape, and etc. can be carved to be varied foods and fruits.
A vivid crab was made of Gaoshan stone. The streaky pork was made of ross quartz which can clearly tell the difference of lean and fat meat.
The dishes are not so cheap! Taking the litchi for example, it costs 3500yuan/string. The ham costs over 60,000yuan/pc, while the toast whole lamb is valued 80,000yuan. The whole feast is valued over 10million yuan.
“It is non-renewable resource, so some visitors bought their favorite dishes yesterday,” said Lin Qinglai.
